How do I watch something on SadieSpot TV?

Jellyfin is the media server that actually streams the movies and shows to your devices. It’s like a DIY Netflix that only contains content I’ve added.

First-time login (any device)

Option A – Simple login

  1. Open the app or go to https://watch.sadiespot.tv in a browser.
  2. If the app asks for a server address, use: https://watch.sadiespot.tv
  3. Tap Sign In.
  4. Enter the Jellyfin username and password I gave you.
  5. You’ll land on the Jellyfin home screen with libraries like “Movies”, “TV Shows”, etc.

Option B – Quick Connect (no password typing)

Some official Jellyfin clients support Quick Connect, which lets you log in by typing a short code from one device into another that’s already logged in.

On the new device (phone/TV/etc):

  1. Open the Jellyfin app.
  2. On the login screen, choose Quick Connect (or sometimes Manual Login → Quick Connect).
  3. A short code appears. Leave this screen open.

On a device already logged in (phone or browser):

  1. Open Jellyfin and go to Settings → Quick Connect.
  2. Enter the code and confirm.
  3. The new device should log in automatically.

If the code expires or fails, just generate a new one and try again.

Basic “how do I use this?”

Once you’re logged into Jellyfin:

  • Home screen: You’ll see sections like “Continue Watching”, “Recently Added”, “Movies”, “TV Shows”.
  • Browse: Pick a library, scroll around, or use Search (magnifying glass icon).
  • Play something: Click/tap on a movie or episode, then hit Play.
  • Resume where you left off: Anything partially watched will show up under Continue Watching.
  • Mark watched/unwatched: Open the item → look for a checkmark / “Watched” toggle if you want to fix progress.

If something doesn’t exist in the library, you can request it via Jellyseerr (see How do I request movies & shows below).

How do I request movies & shows (Jellyseerr – media.sadiespot.tv)?

If something you want to watch isn't in Jellyfin, you can request it through Jellyseerr:

Website: https://media.sadiespot.tv

Jellyseerr is more than just a request portal – it's a tool for crowdsourced content curation. Your requests help me understand what you and others actually want to watch, so the server fills up with content everyone enjoys. It's a win-win: you get to request things, the community benefits from what gets added, and I get to see what matters to people using this setup.

Logging into Jellyseerr
  • Go to https://media.sadiespot.tv.
  • Log in with the same username and password you use for Jellyfin.
  • Once logged in, you'll see options to browse, search, request, and report issues on existing media.
How to request something

Movies

  1. Search for the movie by name.
  2. Open it – you’ll see details, posters, and maybe different versions.
  3. Click Request.
  4. That’s it. The system will queue it up for approval and then for download.

You can also request entire collections/franchises (e.g., all movies in a series) if they show up as a collection.

TV Shows

  1. Search for the show.
  2. Open it and scroll through the seasons.
  3. You can request just one season or all seasons.
  4. Click Request; the system will take care of the rest.
What happens behind the scenes (cute version)
  1. Your request goes into a Pending pile.
  2. A human admin (me) approves or rejects it.
  3. After approval, the server elves & fairies start hunting the internet for good quality files.
  4. When something is found, it gets downloaded, processed, and added to Jellyfin.
  5. Once it’s fully added, Jellyseerr marks it as Available and you can watch it in Jellyfin.

Most requests will eventually succeed, but a few might take longer or never show up if good sources can’t be found.

You can see the status of your requests directly in Jellyseerr.

What do the Jellyseerr request statuses mean?

You may see different status tags on your requests (names can evolve a bit over time, but roughly):

  • Pending – Your request is waiting for an admin to approve it.
  • Requested – It’s approved and Jellyseerr has told the automation tools to start looking for it, but no suitable files have been grabbed yet.
  • Processing – A matching release has been found and the download is in progress or being processed.
  • Available – The media is fully downloaded, imported, and should be playable in Jellyfin.
  • Partially Available – Some parts are present, but not everything (for a show, maybe only some seasons or episodes; for a collection, maybe not all movies are there yet).

If you see something stuck in Requested or Processing for a long time, it usually means good sources are hard to find or something glitched. Feel free to gently ping me if it's been stuck for ages.

How do I report issues with existing media?

Found a problem with something already in the library? Please report it! Whether it's audio cutting out, subtitles out of sync, missing episodes, or video quality issues, I want to know. Your reports help me fix problems so everyone enjoys a high-quality experience.

How to report an issue in Jellyseerr

  1. Go to https://media.sadiespot.tv and log in.
  2. Find the movie or show with the problem.
  3. Look for an Issue button or Report option.
  4. Select what you're reporting on:
    • For movies: the entire movie.
    • For shows: the specific episode, season, or the entire series (depending on scope).
  5. Choose the type of issue:
    • Audio – Sound is missing, out of sync, wrong language, or distorted.
    • Video – Picture is glitchy, wrong quality, aspect ratio is off, etc.
    • Subtitle – Subtitles missing, out of sync, wrong language, or corrupted.
    • Other – Anything else (missing episodes, wrong content, etc.).
  6. Add a description of what's wrong. Be as specific as you can.
  7. Submit the report. I'll see it and fix it as soon as I can.

Why this matters

The goal is to make SadieSpot TV a high-quality shared resource that everyone can trust. If you notice something wrong and don't report it, I can't fix it. With your help, I can:

  • Re-download a file with better quality
  • Fix subtitle sync issues
  • Add missing episodes or audio tracks
  • Investigate other glitches

So please, report any issues, no matter how small. It helps everyone enjoy better media together.

How do we watch together with SyncPlay?

SyncPlay is Jellyfin’s “watch together” feature – it plays the same thing at the same time for everyone in a group, so you can do movie nights remotely.

How SyncPlay works (conceptually)
  • One person creates a SyncPlay group.
  • Other people join that group.
  • When the host plays / pauses / seeks, everyone’s playback stays in sync.
  • If someone’s internet lags, there may be small pauses or resyncs.

The main requirement is that your connection is stable. If it seems flaky, just let me know.

How to use SyncPlay (web & desktop)

SyncPlay works best in:

  1. Everyone signs into Jellyfin with their own account.
  2. One person (the “host”) opens the movie/episode they want.
  3. Look for the SyncPlay / group icon in the playback controls.
  4. Host: Create a new group and give it a recognizable name (e.g., Friday Movie Night).
  5. Others: Open the same SyncPlay menu and join that group.
  6. Once everyone shows as connected, the host presses Play.

If playback gets out of sync, a simple Pause → Play often fixes it.

Which devices support SyncPlay?

Support is not 100% consistent across all apps:

  • Works best:
    • Browser (web client)
    • Desktop clients (Jellyfin Media Player)
  • Mobile & TVs:
    • Some platforms don’t support SyncPlay yet, especially TV apps, or support may be incomplete/ experimental.

If you don’t see a SyncPlay button on your device, just assume that particular app doesn’t support it right now and use a laptop/desktop browser instead for watch parties.

What is Streamyfin and when should I use it?

Streamyfin can be used just like a normal Jellyfin client, but it also supports Seerr/Jellyseerr integration so you can discover new media and request it from inside the app rather than visiting the Jellyseerr website.

Basic Streamyfin setup
  1. Install Streamyfin from the App Store.
  2. Open the app and choose to add a new server.
  3. Enter the server URL: https://watch.sadiespot.tv
  4. Log in with your Jellyfin username & password.
  5. Once connected, you’ll see your usual libraries and can browse, play, and download episodes.
Streamyfin & Jellyseerr integration (high level)

On the server, there’s a Streamyfin plugin that:

  • Stores centralized settings for the Streamyfin app.
  • Can help with access to Jellyseerr/Seerr for making requests.
  • Lets me customize extra home screen sections and notifications.

If this is set up correctly, you may:

  • See “Discover” style sections in Streamyfin.
  • Be able to request media directly, without separately logging into Jellyseerr in a browser.

If something looks odd or you don’t see requests working, just fall back to the Jellyseerr website and/or let me know.

Discovering & requesting from Streamyfin

Roughly, the flow in Streamyfin looks like:

  1. Open the app and go to the Discover / Requests / Seerr area.
  2. Search for movies/shows that aren’t currently in the library.
  3. Hit Request (instead of Play).
  4. That sends a request via Jellyseerr/Seerr just like the website; you can then track status from the requests tab or the Jellyseerr site.

Because Streamyfin and its plugin are actively developed, the UI may shift over time, but the core idea is:

Streamyfin = one app where you can both watch and request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I forgot my password. What do I do?

Just contact me directly and I’ll reset your account.

After I reset it:

  1. Log into Jellyfin with the temporary password I give you.
  2. Go to your profile → change password in Jellyfin and set something new.
  3. Use the same password to log into Jellyseerr and Streamyfin (where applicable).

If you can’t reach me at all, you probably shouldn’t be using this setup anyway, since it’s manual and personal.

Q: I requested something. Why isn’t it in Jellyfin yet?

Possibilities:

  • The request is still Pending (waiting for approval).
  • It’s Requested – the automation tools are still looking for a good source.
  • It’s Processing – download is in progress or being post-processed/imported.
  • It’s Partially Available – some seasons/episodes or some movies in a collection are available, but not all.

You can always check the current status on https://media.sadiespot.tv. If it seems stuck for a long time, just let me know and I’ll take a look.

Q: Can I request whole series or collections?

Yes:

  • For shows, you can request all seasons or only specific seasons.
  • For franchises, you can request entire collections when they're visible in Jellyseerr.

Just be reasonable: giant multi-show binge requests may take a while and eat a lot of storage.

Q: I found a problem with something that's already available (audio issue, missing episode, etc.). What do I do?

Report it in Jellyseerr! Use the Issue / Report feature (see How do I report issues with existing media?) and describe what's wrong. Pick the issue type (Audio, Video, Subtitle, Other), and give me details. I'll fix it as soon as I can and re-import or re-download as needed. This really helps keep the server high-quality for everyone.

Q: We started a SyncPlay session and someone went out of sync. What now?
  • Have the host press Pause, wait a second or two, then Play again.
  • If that doesn’t help, try leaving and rejoining the SyncPlay group, or switch to a web browser client, which tends to behave best.
Q: Why don’t I see the SyncPlay button on my TV / app?

Not all Jellyfin clients expose SyncPlay yet, especially TV apps. Some platforms only support it partially or not at all.

If you can’t find it:

  • Use a laptop or desktop browser at https://watch.sadiespot.tv for watch parties.
  • Or try the Jellyfin Media Player on a computer.

Final Notes

Enjoy the movies and shows! 🎞️🍿
